Every year thousands of magnificent horses are retired from or fail-off of racing tracks around the world. Most of these animals are still very young and healthy, but are often put to death because they can no longer earn their keep or because they have been trained to be too aggressive for average riders. Many of these animals are sold to the food service industry where they often end up as animal food or as a delicacy on dinner tables. Currently in the planning stage, Tanango will be an innovative facility that will rescue large numbers of these animals and patiently rehabilitate them to be suitable companions for average riders and horse enthusiasts. It will be located on 700 acres of prime pasture land in Washington State and will operate alongside a recreational facility for underprivileged inner city youth.
